Part 2 Chapter 1

Meursault is now arrested. He doesn't seem to realize that he is in big trouble. He looks like he even enjoys himself getting arrested. How odd. His defense lawyer all of a sudden asks him whether he felt sad at his mother's funeral. Meursault is kind of upset with that question. He even says that "At one time or another all normal people have wished their loved ones were dead." Huh? He is so blunt. Is he innocent or some sort of sociopath? His remarks make his defense lawyer feel uncomfortable. Meursault's magistrate also tries to get his confession in Jesus Christ, but he keeps denying it because he believes that life is a piece of shit, in other words, meaningless. 

Both magistrate and lawyer view Meursault's crime through a Christian point of view, but Meursault thinks that their belief has nothing to do with his crime. Meursault is a murderer, but his conviction mainly focuses on his belief not on his criminal acts. Also Jesus Christ was prosecuted based on a dubious charge and nailed on a cross. The magistrate calls Meursault a name by saying "That's all for today, Monsieur Antichrist."

Part 2 Chapter 2

Meursault's freedom is limitted. He used to enjoy swimming, having a sex with Maurie and eating no matter what happened but he is now in trapped in prison. That's why he chooses to sleeping away all day long, like a kind of living death. He prepares to die. In Chapter 2, one of many themes of the book reappears. It's miscommunication. When Meursault's and other prisoners meet with their visitors, it's chaotic. They hardly communicate because of their voices echo off the walls. It feels like only non-verbal communication works out well over words.

Part 2 Chapter 3

Meursault is in the courtroom. He entertains himself looking around participants in the courtroom. The prosecutor does not convict Meursault of the act of killing, but he prosecutes him based on his anti-social character, not for the crime itself. It's like Meursault did not cry at his mother's funeral and put him on trial for it. It's totally non-sense. He killed an Arab man and they need to discuss that matter.  
The prosecutor and judge does not seem to care about the Arab man and his community, but they keep on following their own agenda, so called their traditional Christian morality. It is killing Meursault. The courtroom feels hotter and hotter. This physical discomfort makes Meursault frustrated.
