Part 2 Chapter 4

Although Meursault's act was not a premeditated crime, the prosecutor tries to make other people believe that his violent act was premediated. In the mean time Meursault's lawyer does not do a good job with Meursault's case. It's all about miscommunication. When Meursault defenses himself, his words are all jumbled up and he fails to do it. The prosecutor ends up asking the jury to condemn Meursault to death because he is "morally guilty of killing his mother." How could it be possible. He didn't kill his mother, but he did not cry at his mother's funeral. Then he murdered the Arab because he was senseless or the sun made him do it. I dunno.

Part 2 Chapter 5

Meursault cannot focus on the sensations of physical life in prison. It makes him mad and frustrated. Now he is thinking of escaping, but it only exists in his head. He winds up accepting the finality of death. As long as everything has no meaning, he doesn't need to bother being alive. Who cares? Isn't it his perspective about staying alive? The most amazing events have come up. It's a chaplain's visit. He tries to convince him Mersault must accept Jesus to be forgiven. However, he denies it. He just confirms that life is meaningless. That's his view.

I was sure about me, about everything, surer than he could ever be, sure of my life and sure of the death I had waiting for me. Yes, that wa sall I had.  The Stranger by Albert Camus
